The Tier 3 RAN Support Engineer will serve as a high-level escalation point for complex issues and will work closely with engineering, operations, and field teams to resolve customer-impacting problems and ensure service excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform root cause analysis and contribute to post-incident reviews for Wi-Fi-related service disruptions or chronic issues
  • Support lab validation, testing, and optimization of Wi-Fi devices, firmware updates, and configuration changes prior to field deployment
  • Collaborate with Engineering and NOC teams to develop and implement operational best practices and resolution procedures
  • Monitor Wi-Fi performance and reliability metrics across access infrastructure to identify degradation or optimization opportunities
  • Assist with field trials and pilot programs for new Wi-Fi technologies and deployments
  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge transfer, and training materials for Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams

Experience Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in wireless networking, with a focus on Wi-Fi access technologies
  • Strong understanding of 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5), 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6), and 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) standards
  • Hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting wireless gateways, mesh systems, access points, and related CPE devices
  • Proficiency with network diagnostic tools and telemetry platforms
  • Solid understanding of RF behavior, signal propagation, interference, and performance tuning
  • Experience working with field engineering or NOC teams on escalated Wi-Fi or access layer issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to isolate issues across hardware, software, and RF domains
  • Familiarity with lab test environments and validating wireless device performance prior to deployment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working for or supporting MSOs, ISPs, or wireless service providers
  • Knowledge of 4G LTE or 5G wireless technologies is a plus

Education Requirements:
  • B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering required; MBA preferred
  • Wi-Fi or wireless networking certifications (CWNA, CWSP, or equivalent) a strong plus
