In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Lead Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering position at the Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible for managing and optimizing technical infrastructure and ensuring the seamless operation of IT systems to support business needs effectively.

Morgan Stanley is an industry leader in financial services, known for mobilizing capital to help governments, corporations, institutions, and individuals around the world achieve their financial goals.

Interested in joining a team that's eager to create, innovate and make an impact on the world? Read on.

Our customers care about capabilities, end-to-end functions that are critical. These 10 critical flows are our crown jewels, without which our business can't operate. As these are cross-cutting across multiple platforms and multiple PAGs, we need to make sure that these capabilities never go down.

These capabilities cut through multiple platforms that all need to have the right "itilies" (resiliency, observability, recoverability etc). Series of platforms that are sequenced together, that come together.

Considerations:
  • The team has eyes on production, but 70-80% of the work is in pre-production
  • Capacity is crucial: proactive monitoring of capacity of databases, services, market data, quotas
  • Collaboration is the heart of what we do

The critical flows:
  • E*TRADE Login, Complete View, Trading
  • Morgan Stanley Login, Home Page Trading
  • 3D Positions, Balances, Search, Trading

The ideal candidate knows how to navigate complex, large systems of many hundreds of servers and many thousands of services. Understand how to effectively use a CMDB, how to leverage automation at scale and to treat servers "like cattle, not pets".

What you'll bring to the role:
  • In-depth Linux knowledge
  • Java memory configuration knowledge
  • Python
  • Grafana/Prometheus
  • Loki/Elastic/Splunk
  • Microservices
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills required to troubleshoot AIX/UNIX and AWS/Linux and performance related issues.
  • Strong understanding of the architecture. ex. provide AIX/UNIX and AWS/LINUX architecture and configuration recommendations as required
