Job Details

Disney Enterprise Technology (DET) is looking for an individual with strong communication and technical skills to support networking and infrastructure in the New York/Tri-State Area.

The Telecom Technical Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations, project coordination/implementation, contributing to design, and support of Disney wireless and voice solutions in the New York and Bristol, CT areas. This includes support of projects ranging from traditional voice, Wi-Fi, cellular, and radio systems. This individual must also have a strong understanding of outage restoration and technical troubleshooting techniques, demonstrated through experience and be able to respond to and resolve networking technology failures. The Telecom Technical Specialist works with different business units and vendors to ensure operational support of new and existing installations.

This role will report to the Sr. Manager - Telecom Operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet and conform to all safety policies and regulations set forth by The Walt Disney Company (TWDC). Ensure a culture of safety is foremost within DET Telecom department.
  • Provide hands-on support and maintain critical services for Disney infrastructure applications including: Guest and Cast Wi-Fi, wired connectivity (copper & fiber), video technologies, voice, and cellular/mobile services.
  • Respond to outage situations by providing technical triage/troubleshooting as well as providing timely communications to business partners and leadership teams.
  • Participate in recommendations and best practices around wired and wireless solutions.
  • Understand the requirements for operational support of various end user wireless devices.
  • Facilitate site walks with customers and vendor partners as needed.
  • Provide operational design input into new technology deployments.
  • Review and monitor Service Level Agreements with vendor partners to ensure service standards are achieved.
  • Interact with key partners including Disney IT, Business segments, Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), network teams, and other partners.

Requirements:
  • 3+ years professional experience in technology
  • 3+ years professional experience in voice/cellular, or collaboration
  • 3+ years professional experience in IT service delivery
  • 3+ years project coordination/management
  • Advanced understanding of the OSI Model and other IT frameworks
  • Solid knowledge of radio frequency (RF), wireless, and cellular networks
  • Solid knowledge of network security and firewall operations
  • Solid understanding of fiber-based networks
  • Solid understanding of VoIP and SIP technology
  • Some understanding of IoT technologies and other 5G solutions
  • Experience with Cisco and HP-Aruba switches
  • Familiarity with network protocols to include: BGP, OSPF, RIP, ISIS, MPLS, etc.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite of products (MS Teams, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to collaborate with a range of partners while understanding multiple perspectives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey data to internal and external customers
  • Familiarity with project management applications such as Smartsheet or MS Project.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly to both the New York City locations and Bristol, CT campus

Required Education:
  • Degree in computer science, information systems, RF engineering, or other related technical discipline desired
  • Or, appropriate certifications and equivalent work experience.

Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Technology, or Computer Science
  • Various security and network certifications.

The hiring range for this position in New York is $92,600 to $130,680 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
