Job Details

We're seeking a Lead Engineer to support and improve our Fastify APIs. You'll focus on monitoring, troubleshooting, fixing production issues, and building runbooks/playbooks. You'll also mentor teammates, participate in on-call rotations, and help shape operational standards as we move to a microservices architecture.
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain API reliability, performance, and uptime
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly
  • Develop and update runbooks/playbooks for incident response
  • Implement and improve monitoring and alerting systems
  • Mentor and onboard new team members
  • Collaborate with engineering and data teams to align development and operations
  • Participate in on-call rotations and post-incident reviews
  • Lead the design and implementation of backend systems and APIs.
  • Drive architectural decisions and partner with the business for strategic decisions.

Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Fastify APIs in production
  • Strong skills in monitoring, alerting, and incident response
  • Familiarity with observability tools
  • Leadership or mentoring experience
  • Experience with microservices and cloud environments is a plus
  • Ability to work 100% Remote

Technical Experience:
Proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, PHP, or Node.js.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB).
Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
