The Application Architect will play a pivotal role in driving our organization's application strategy into the future, shaping the blueprint of our application landscape. Responsible for establishing application architecture standards, best practices, and guidelines, this role ensures our systems are built on solid foundations that cater to both current needs and future growth. The Architect is charged with developing and maintaining a comprehensive application roadmap, guiding our transition from legacy systems to state-of-the-art, cloud-native architectures. As we navigate this transformation, leveraging modern paradigms like containerization, microservices, and API-first designs becomes paramount. The Architect will not only modernize our technological footprint but also instill a culture of architectural excellence. Familiarity with insurance-specific technologies, such as Duck Creek and Guidewire, is a plus as we continue to refine and innovate within the insurance sector.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive application strategies and roadmaps that are in alignment with the organization's business goals and drivers.
  • Oversee the design and development of scalable and robust application architectures. Ensure applications are developed in a way that is consistent with architectural guidelines and best practices. Lead architectural reviews in the Application Architecture domain.
  • Lead the initiative to modernize legacy on-premise applications, transitioning them to cloud-based architectures. This includes re-architecting, refactoring, and/or rebuilding applications as necessary.
  • Design and implement containerization strategies using technologies like Docker and Kubernetes to enhance scalability, manageability, and portability of applications.
  • Develop and implement modern integration techniques such as microservices architecture, API-first design, and event-driven architectures, ensuring seamless communication between applications, data sources, and third-party systems.
  • Ensure applications can effectively utilize and interact with business intelligence, analytics, and AI solutions to drive data-driven decisions and features.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand their requirements, gather feedback, and ensure that application strategies align with business objectives.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Eight to 10 years of experience.
  • Two to five years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Proven expertise in designing and developing scalable and robust application architectures.
  • Experience in developing application strategies and roadmaps that align with business objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of business intelligence, analytics, and AI and how they integrate with application design.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of insurance technology, IBM mainframe, and products such as Duck Creek, Guidewire, etc. is a plus.
  • Experience in the Agile methodology a plus.
