Job Title: Data Validation Engineer

Position Overview: A leading technology organization is seeking a Data Validation Engineer for a 6-month remote contract role. This position is critical in supporting data remediation efforts, especially in environments affected by advanced persistent threats (APTs) or malware. The ideal candidate will have expertise in data scanning, malware detection/removal, and OS-level threat analysis across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use advanced, proprietary data scanning processes to validate and sanitize data, identifying and removing malicious files or payloads.

  • Conduct detailed operating system startup reviews (Windows, Linux, Unix, macOS) to uncover and eliminate persistence mechanisms left by threat actors.

  • Perform manual and automated forensic scans of system files and logs to detect malware and backdoors.

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to verify data integrity and prepare sanitized files for safe restoration or use.

  • Document and report on each scan or analysis session to ensure traceability and audit compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, digital forensics, or malware analysis.
  • Strong understanding of OS internals and startup processes across Windows, Linux, Unix, and macOS.

  • Proficiency in malware detection, threat hunting, and data sanitization methods.

  • Hands-on experience with commercial and open-source malware scanning and data validation tools.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise-grade data validation tools.

  • Industry certifications such as GCFA, GREM, or CEH.

  • Background in enterprise recovery or post-incident remediation projects.
