Summary
The contractor shall provide a highly skilled technical writer to aid in developing and improving business processes. Job duties will include developing, designing, and writing technical documentation including Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans, policies and procedures, training and system manuals, system architecture documentation, and other related technical materials. The candidate will work closely with subject matter experts, Compliance, IT professionals, Architects, and other technical staff to gather data and produce accurate, comprehensive documentation. The role requires strong research capabilities, understanding of document structure, subject matter expertise, and adherence to formal grammar rules. May also revise or standardize materials prepared by others when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Research and analyze subject matter to collect accurate documentation data.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with internal standards, branding guidelines, and regulatory requirements (ISO, HIPAA, COBIT, NIST).
- Conduct industry-standard research using the Internet and other sources to ensure current and relevant information.
- Revise, standardize, or update materials prepared by others when necessary.
- Develop training materials, quick start guides, and how-to tutorials.
- Maintain version control and ensure documentation traceability for audit readiness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in English, Technical Communication, Information Technology, or Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of technical writing experience, preferably in a technology-driven or software development environment.
- Familiarity with SDLC, DevOps, or ITIL processes is a plus.
- Strong grammar, spelling, and editing skills.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills with strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to translate technical language into easily understandable content for a variety of audiences.
