Hi,
We are seeking an experienced Drupal Developer with an active NIH badge to support web modernization and content migration initiatives at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in Drupal 9, Acquia Cloud, and PHP, along with a proven track record of successfully migrating legacy websites and applications to modern Drupal platforms.

Clearance: Active NIH Badge Required Employment Type: Contract / Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, configure, and maintain websites using Drupal 9 on Acquia Cloud.
  • Lead and support content migration from legacy platforms (Drupal 7 or others) to Drupal 9.
  • Create and customize themes and modules using PHP, Twig, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Collaborate with NIH stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions aligned with NIH branding and accessibility guidelines.
  • Optimize site performance, security, and scalability in accordance with federal and NIH standards.
  • Maintain version control using Git and deploy updates via Acquia pipelines or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, security vulnerabilities, and performance issues.
  • Provide documentation, testing, and knowledge transfer to NIH teams.

Required Qualifications:
  • Active NIH Badge must be current and valid.
  • 4+ years of experience in Drupal development, including Drupal 9.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PHP, Drupal theming, and custom module development.
  • Experience working with Acquia Cloud Platform, including site factory and hosting tools.
  • Proven experience in migration projects, preferably from Drupal 7 or legacy CMS platforms to Drupal 9.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility compliance.
  • Solid understanding of Git, Composer, and Drush.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in federal government or NIH web environments.
  • Knowledge of NIH web policies, standards, and branding.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with automated testing and DevOps best practices.

Education:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
