Job Description - Java EE Developer

Location: Austin, Texas - Hybrid

Interview Type: Face-to-Face Interview



Responsibilities:

  • Understand business objectives and problems, identify alternative solutions, and perform cost/benefit analysis of options.
  • Analyze user requirements, operational procedures, and system challenges to automate processing or improve existing systems.
  • Collaborate with business units to gather input/output needs, data formats, and reporting requirements.
  • Write detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and development/modification steps.
  • Review system capabilities, specifications, and limitations to assess feasibility of program changes.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade applications using Java EE technologies.
  • Analyze legacy Java EE components, including EJB, JPA, and SOAP services, to support architectural decisions.
  • Participate in application rationalization and modernization planning.
  • Support technical walkthroughs and documentation activities to map current application behavior, dependencies, and integration points.
  • Collaborate with architects and business analysts to ensure modernization efforts retain business logic and interoperability.
  • Assist in migrating legacy systems to cloud-native platforms with focus on microservices and API-driven architectures.
  • Utilize AI code analysis tools to examine legacy Java EE applications.
  • Extract and document detailed business requirements and business rules from existing codebases.
  • Work with stakeholders and technical teams to validate and refine requirements.
  • Identify and document technical debt, design patterns, and architectural details within legacy systems.



Candidate Skills and Qualifications

  • 12+ years - Deep hands-on experience in Java and Java EE development, including EJB, JPA, and SOAP-based services; ability to analyze legacy codebases for cloud migration.
  • 12+ years - Proficiency in Java SE 1.8 and Java EE 8 with enterprise application server deployments.
  • 12+ years - Experience with ORM frameworks and integrating persistence layers with business logic.
  • 10+ years - Proven ability to collaborate with architects, business analysts, and security engineers to align solutions with business goals.
  • 8+ years - Experience with AI code analysis tools for static analysis, code understanding, and pattern recognition.
  • 8+ years - Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring.
  • 8+ years - Exposure to cloud-native transformation strategies (containerization, elastic scaling, loosely coupled services).
  • 8+ years - Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and backlog refinement.
  • 8+ years - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • 8+ years - Solid understanding of software design principles and patterns.
  • 6+ years (Preferred) - Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • 6+ years (Preferred) - Experience in requirements elicitation and documentation.
