Job Summary:
We are a diverse and innovative team supporting Product Design and Hardware Engineering through advanced prototyping and manufacturing solutions. As we expand our efforts to integrate machine learning into the CNC workflow, we are seeking a Machine Learning - CNC Operator to join our team. This unique hybrid role combines traditional CNC machining skills with data-driven support for ML development and automation.

Job Description:
As a ML - CNC Operator, you will be responsible for operating CNC equipment while also collecting, documenting, and communicating detailed machining data for machine learning development. You will work closely with ML Engineers and Developers to support automated G Code generation models and help fine-tune systems through accurate feedback and problem-solving.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Set-up and operate CNC machines to produce high-precision prototype parts.
  • Collect and log detailed machining data (toolpaths, feeds/speeds, materials, tool changes, etc.).
  • Document run outcomes and provide structured feedback on errors or process failures.
  • Assist in the evaluation of AI-generated GCode through simulation and execution.
  • Flag and communicate machining errors or deviations to the ML development team.
  • Participate in closed-loop learning efforts by validating outcomes and supporting improvement cycles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test new automation tools and UI systems.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of CNC machine operation experience in a prototyping or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming principles and machining processes.
  • Comfortable working with aluminum, steel, and plastic materials.
  • Familiarity with Vericut, CAM software (e.g., NX, Fusion, Mastercam), and CAD file formats (e.g., .stp, .igs).
  • Strong data literacy: able to document workflows, errors, and part outcomes precisely.
  • Critical thinker with the ability to identify root causes and suggest improvements.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills to relay information across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs and remain attentive during multi-machine operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts or AI-driven manufacturing workflows.
  • Experience using digital simulation environments or CNC simulation tools.
  • Background in data entry, system testing, or QA processes, BS Preferred.
