Job Description:

The Software Architect will support the New York State Information Technology Services (ITS) by providing design, development, and support for mainframe-based systems. This role involves general system design, structured COBOL programming, unit and integration testing, and thorough documentation of all development and testing efforts.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mainframe environments, especially with Unisys platforms (Client 2200 or ClearPath), and be capable of performing system-to-system integrations using Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Mandatory Qualifications:

The candidate must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. 60+ months experience with COBOL 74 and/or 85 programming on Unisys 2200 or ClearPath mainframes, including system analysis, design, programming, unit, and integration testing.

  2. 60+ months experience using Unisys mainframe tools such as ECL (Executive Command Language), TIP (Transaction Interface Package), and DMS 2200/RDMS.

  3. 60+ months of experience in production support, including system monitoring and performing error diagnostics/debugging in a mainframe environment.

  4. 60+ months of experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation for design, development, and testing processes.

  5. 60+ months experience in performing system-to-system integration with third-party vendors using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
