Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Telecom Data Network Engineer with our large power and utilities client in Raleigh, NC. This is a 12-month contract with a potential for extension. This is a hybrid position - 3 days a week in office.

Pay: $53.00 - $56.25/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.

Description:
The IT Telecommunications department is looking for an individual with strong network engineering experience to join its team. The Telecom Data Engineer II will be responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of complex data network solutions. This position requires a thorough understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and the design and configuration of various Cisco Products supporting telecommunication projects for various internal business units.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, test, implement, and upgrade enterprise network solutions.
  • Configuration of Cisco IOS configurations, testing and implementation of new network hardware devices (routers and switches) into the existing network infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate diagrams and configurations for all network devices.
  • Prepare engineering construction packages consisting of detailed parts equipment lists, and appropriate documentation (drawings, network diagrams, configurations, etc.).
  • Ensure cost effective design of systems with the goal of meeting business needs and providing a reliable and efficient service to the user.
  • Prepare and submit cost estimates for planned installations where required.
  • Maintain familiarity with current networking technologies and available facilities.
  • Procure, turn-up, and troubleshoot both private and public WAN circuits.
  • Work across the IT organization to provide end-to-end solutions to the customer.

Basic/Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree from a four-year college or university in computer engineering, information technology, computer science, or related field of study
  • In lieu of a degree, 10 years of business-related experience.
  • Work experience in addition to a degree: 5-7 years of job-related experience.

Job-specific knowledge, skills, or abilities:

  • Experience with Microsoft (MS) Windows Operating Systems and MS Office.
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in Information Technology with at least 5 years of design and support of Cisco Systems products.
  • Understanding of communication technology and fundamentals.
  • Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Effective verbal & written communication.
  • Experience in coordination with multiple groups, companies, and people simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively with little direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support successful performance in a team environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Telecommunications Engineering documentation and technologies.
  • Experience with Construction Engineering documentation and technologies.
  • Experience with SCADA communications and/or high security networks.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience working with JIRA.
  • Understanding of basic principles of project management.
  • Cisco Certifications CCNA, CCDA desired. CCNP, CCDP, CCIE preferred.
  • Experience with network hardware/software solutions: Cisco routers and switches, Cisco Client, Cisco wireless controllers and Client and Cisco VPN concentrators.
  • Experience in the following technology areas: TCP/IP, Cisco IOS, Layer 3 Switching, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, GRE, HSRP, GLBP, IPSEC, SSL, AAA, SNMP
