Job Title: SAP MM / Work Management Consultant/functional analyst
Location: Oakland, CA

NOTE: This is W2 Contract no Third Party

*LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY* The role is hybrid, at least once a week in OGO. *6 months with possible extension. *

We re looking for a SAP Materials Management (MM) and Work Management SME to help Substation Operations improve material/inventory management and resource planning. This contractor will partner with Business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement improvements in SAP and, where needed, supporting platforms such as Snowflake (reporting, analytics, and data products).

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented SAP MM / Work Management Consultant to join our innovative IT team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in SAP Materials Management (MM) and Work Management modules to optimize procurement, inventory, and maintenance processes. Your proactive approach will support seamless integration with enterprise systems, ensuring efficient workflows across various business units. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale system design, solution architecture, and process improvement initiatives within a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in enhancing operational efficiency through strategic system configuration, troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business requirements related to SAP MM and Work Management processes, translating them into effective system solutions aligned with overall architecture.
  • Configure and customize SAP MM modules to support procurement, inventory management, and vendor management activities.
  • Collaborate with solution architects to design scalable system architectures that integrate SAP with other enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, Pegasystems, and cloud services like AWS and Azure.
  • Develop and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for data migration and integration using scripting languages such as Python or Shell Scripting.
  • Conduct system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance of SAP modules and related interfaces like RESTful APIs and Web services.
  • Support system hardening, vulnerability assessments, and security protocols including firewall configurations, VPNs, load balancing, and cloud security measures.
  • Participate in Agile development cycles utilizing CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins or Git for continuous integration and deployment of system updates.
  • Document system design specifications, process flows, and technical procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on experience in SAP MM (utility or industrial environment preferred).
  • Proven experience with work management and how materials tie to field execution (work orders, planning, staging/kitting, consumption posting, returns).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional requirements sessions and drive decisions across Business and IT.
  • Experience implementing solutions end-to-end (requirements? design ? build/config ? test ? deploy).
