Job Title: Systems Security Engineer - Vulnerability management

Location: Remote

Duration: 6+ Months C2H

Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Security Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in vulnerability management, particularly within Microsoft environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating security vulnerabilities, as well as managing patch deployment strategies for Microsoft products. This role will play a critical part in safeguarding our organization's systems and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive vulnerability assessments across Microsoft systems and applications, including Windows OS, Microsoft Server, Active Directory, Office 365, and Azure environments.
  • Develop and implement robust patch management processes to ensure timely deployment of security updates across Microsoft platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk and operational impact, providing actionable remediation strategies.
  • Monitor, track, and report the status of vulnerabilities and patches to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate emerging threats and vulnerabilities, providing recommendations for proactive mitigation measures.
  • Participate in incident response activities related to Microsoft systems, analyzing root causes and implementing long-term security solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR) and maintain documentation of security protocols and procedures.
  • Design and improve automated solutions for vulnerability scanning and patch deployment workflows.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in vulnerability management and security engineering, specifically within Microsoft product ecosystems.
  • Proven expertise in patch management for Microsoft systems, including experience with WSUS, SCCM, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and technologies related to Microsoft environments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Defender, Azure Security Center, and third-party vulnerability assessment platforms.
  • Solid understanding of networking, cloud security, and endpoint protection.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to managing complex security challenges.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or Microsoft-specific security certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate) are highly desirable.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) to automate security tasks.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability disclosure practices and coordination with third-party vendors.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
