SQL Database Developer

1. Strong Microsoft SQL Server Expertise
• Experience with both transactional and data warehouse environments
• High focus on efficiency and SQL fundamentals
2. ETL Process Knowledge
• Solid experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
• Ability to explain decision-making and reasoning
3. Reporting Awareness (Preferred)
• Exposure to SSRS and Power BI
• Understanding of limitations of reporting environments and adjusting data models accordingly
4. Hands-On Programming
• Willingness to get involved in development/programming
• Not just a designer or strategist hands-on contributor
5. Automation-Oriented Mindset
• Strong interest in automation and process optimization
• Ability to work in dynamic settings refining and improving processes over time
6. Experience Level
• Preferably 10+ years,
7. Interest in Data Flow and Presentation
• Not just tech-focused should think about the end-to-end data flow, from ingestion to presentation
• Careful consideration of how data is used and consumed

• Willing to admit mistakes and explain reasoning
9. Focused, Not Generalized Background
• Prefer candidates with focused SQL Server and data engineering experience

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in SQL Server database design, development, and administration.
• Proven experience in redesigning and implementing large-scale, high-performance SQL Server databases, with the ability to contribute from day one.
• Strong understanding of database scalability techniques such as sharding, partitioning, and indexing.
• Experience in handling large-volume databases (100TB+) and implementing efficient archival strategies.
• Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting database issues.
• Experience with self-hosted SQL Server databases on virtual machines (VMs).
• Hands-on experience with database migration, backup, and recovery processes.
• Familiarity with data modeling techniques and tools such as ERwin or PowerDesigner.
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Experience with microservices architecture and integrating databases within distributed systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Tolling Experience is strong plus
• Any relevant SQL Server certification is preferred.
• Experience with NoSQL databases and hybrid database solutions.
• Knowledge of AI-driven database optimization and predictive analytics.
• Knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
