SCOPE OF WORK | The consultant(s) will undertake duties and responsibilities as a Senior DBA providing expert technical support for over 400 databases housing critical data for enterprise applications, such as myCalPERS, PeopleSoft, Business Intelligence and Actuarial Valuation System. The consultant(s) will have a specific focus on the Business Intelligence (BI) application database to troubleshoot, develop and enhance further on its functionality. We are also looking for experience with Oracle Golden Gate and Oracle Data Integrator. The consultant(s) will act as the technical SME on complex projects and/or may participate with other team members on work efforts of a complex nature and broad scope. The consultant(s) may be involved in performing a range of work from moderate to highly complex, time sensitive, and critical for the database environments. The consultant(s) will also act as a subject matter expert (SME) for new database technology research, on-prem and cloud-based database infrastructure, database migrations, database disk cloning and automation, backup process improvements, Disaster Recovery, advanced programming, and scripting to automate processes and leverage advanced technologies. |

Role and Responsibilities | |
Deliverable 1: Analysis and Design Support for the myCalPERS, Business Intelligence and other enterprise application databases and Knowledge transfer. Consultant will participate in analysis and design efforts for enhancing various enterprise system(s) and sub-systems(s), with focus around Business Intelligence (BI) Application database stack. Provide Database administration for enterprise databases including ensuring high availability, monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required. Work closely with DBAs and customers evaluating requirements and advise on the best architecture that will meet the needs of the business while adhering to CalPERS best practices. Lead and perform database upgrades from Oracle versions 12c to 19c (and RAC), including but not limited to support, design, and configuration. Provide 2nd and 3rd tier support to DBA personnel. All analysis, design support and database administration including but not limited to scripts that are created, modified, tuning of custom scripts, stored procedures, and packaged data fixes etc. will have the following components:

Using Tuning Pack, Diagnostics Pack and Change Management Pack and/or Automatic workload Repository (AWR). Writing and tuning PL/SQL objects. Supporting Oracle databases that utilize the RMAN backups to disk or other mediums. Supporting Oracle databases using replication/materialized views. Supporting Oracle databases using triggers. Implementing Oracle database auditing facilities. |
