Job Title: MIS Senior Application Support Developer
Location: 100% Remote - Jackson, MS 39202

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Application Support Developer to support the modernization and transition of the Automated Child Welfare Information System (ACWIS) to a modern, cloud-based platform. This role plays a key part in improving service delivery, data integrity, and system functionality by maintaining legacy systems while contributing to the development of future Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS).
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot existing Natural, Visual Basic 6 (VB6), and .NET-based applications in the current production environment.
- Develop, test, and deploy new features aligned with the modernization roadmap.
- Perform data analysis and cleanup scripting (SQL, Natural) for data de-duplication, integrity validation, and migration planning.
- Support data migration and transformation activities between legacy and modern systems.
- Collaborate in system design and validation, ensuring alignment with CCWIS compliance standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) representing MDCPS in project meetings, technical planning sessions, and cross-agency discussions.
- Provide technical documentation, participate in code reviews, and support validation and testing efforts.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise:
- 10+ years of experience with Natural, VB6, and SQL programming languages.
- Hands-on experience with .NET Framework (C#, ASP.NET).
- Proven background in legacy system maintenance, code refactoring, and modernization initiatives.
- Strong understanding of data integration, batch processing, and file-based interfaces.
- Proficiency in source control and change management tools (Git, SVN, or TFS).
- Experience in data mapping, migration, and conversion planning.
Child Welfare System Experience:
- Prior work with SACWIS, MACWIS, or CCWIS systems.
- Deep understanding of child welfare processes — case management, intake, service planning, licensing, and reporting.
- Ability to translate programmatic requirements into functional and technical system designs.
Professional & Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and experience managing multiple priorities.
- Collaborative team player capable of independent work.
- Experience mentoring junior developers or leading technical initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in child welfare system modernization or federal CCWIS projects.
- Knowledge of federal compliance standards for child welfare systems.
- Familiarity with ADABAS database environments.
- Experience contributing to large-scale IT transformation projects in the public sector.
