Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer with strong expertise in the Payments domain to support the modernization of core payment applications. The role focuses on building scalable, reliable, and high-performance services within a fast-paced, complex business environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and developing end-to-end full stack solutions while driving observability, resilience, and speed of delivery within large enterprise payment systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software solutions for new user stories and epics.
  • Modernize and enhance core backend payment applications with focus on scalability, observability, resiliency, and performance.
  • Develop full stack solutions across backend services, APIs, and frontend components as needed.
  • Build and release reliable software systems at scale within the payments ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with enterprise teams to ensure seamless integration across multiple systems.
  • Guide junior and associate application engineers by assigning work, reviewing output, and supporting growth.
  • Provide technical leadership and influence to help the team achieve commitments and key results.
  • Participate in design decisions and provide guidance on architecture and implementation strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and remediate technical issues using engineering best practices.
  • Proactively design solutions that prevent system failures.
  • Contribute to and potentially lead internal technology communities.
  • Follow Agile methodology with 2-week sprints and write automated test scripts to achieve full test coverage.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of full stack development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience in the payments domain (required).
  • Proven experience modernizing large-scale applications and backend payment systems.
  • Strong knowledge of full stack technologies (backend APIs, services, databases, and frontend frameworks).
  • Experience building reliable, scalable, and resilient distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of observability, performance tuning, debugging, and production support.
  • Ability to develop automated tests and achieve full automation coverage.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to mentor and guide other engineers.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Additional Notes:

  • Only local Chicago candidates will be considered due to hybrid onsite requirement.
  • Payments domain expertise is mandatory.
