Job Description

In this position...
  • D&R engineer is the single point of contact for all aspects of the part design and systems engineering and must meet program targets for quality, function, cost, weight, and timing.
  • Ford Performance is a small team of dedicated engineers who turn mainstream Ford vehicles into extraordinary performance machines on accelerated timelines, with limited resources.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support vehicle development and supplier reviews. In-person work required to support vehicle builds and testing & development.


What you'll do...
  • Design and Release for powertrain components for future Ford Performance vehicles. Requires a minimum of 6 years' experience with an intimate understanding powertrain design, release and systems engineering.
  • Position also includes responsibility will vary as program content change; component/subsystems may include air induction systems, secondary air pumps/brackets, front axle, rear axle, front half shaft, integrated wheel end disconnects, front driveshaft, rear driveshaft, and other powertrain components.
  • D&R roles & responsibilities occasionally will be varied; "triage engineering" will involve a component/sub-system that is carryover but requires D&R ownership when issues evolve such as a test failure, commercial/releasing issue, assembly issues and so on. D&R engineer is the single point of contact for all aspects of the part design and systems engineering.
  • Engineer must be fully competent with a minimum of 6 years' experience using Ford system systems such as FMA, FEDEDVP, FEDEBOM, SWT, AIMS, WERS, and other relevant tools and processes.
  • Provide in-person support the testing, prototype builds, and launch builds of upcoming Ford Performance vehicles at assembly plants and test facilities.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills based on Six Sigma tools and processes and have 4+ years' experience solving difficult cross functional issues related to powertrain systems.
  • Must be willing to support Ford and supplier plant manufacturing issues with short notice and reprioritized roles & responsibilities.
  • Interface & lead discussions daily with other D&R/systems engineers, attribute teams, suppliers, and management to ensure parts comply with required specifications and critical decisions are made efficiently.
  • Must have 6 plus years' experience delivering powertrain systems engineering and other powertrain components that meet program targets for quality, function, cost, weight, and timing.


You'll have...
  • Bachelor's of Science in engineering.
  • Master's degree in engineering with a concentration in automotive systems or equivalent preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in Powertrain component Design and Release required.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills required.
  • 6+ years of experience with powertrain systems engineer, including function, validation, problem solving, etc.
  • Must have experience/competency in Ford PD systems and processes: WERS, FEDEBOM, FEDE, GPDS, SWT, AIMS, Teamcenter, CATIA, etc.
  • Experience with program management tool Microsoft Project to develop Gantt Charts for program timeline, DV-PV, milestones, and deliverables desired.
  • Preferred experience with Diagnostic Engineering Tools/PT Diag using MyCanic FD, CANAlyzer, ATI Vision, etc. to evaluate and analyze vehicle software issues desired.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with ability to deliver results and overcome obstacles in a dynamic working environment, with minimal direction.
