Job Title: Technical Writer

Location: Austin, TX 78752 (Onsite)
Duration: 2 Months (with potential for extension)

Job Summary:

Client is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to develop and maintain user manuals, technical documentation, and project process materials for the Information Technology Division. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical writing expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain user guides, technical documentation, and project process documentation.
  • Translate technical concepts and procedures into clear, concise documentation suitable for various audiences.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to gather information and document procedures, systems, and policies.
  • Create technical articles, reports, brochures, and manuals for a wide range of uses.
  • Coordinate the display of graphics and document production as needed.
  • Support the documentation of IT environment, policies, procedures, and operational plans.
  • Conduct detailed analysis and research to support documentation efforts and data-driven process improvements.
  • Develop and implement customer-centric metrics, performance reports, and visualizations to streamline IT operations.
  • Present complex information and documentation to upper management and C-level stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience composing, reviewing, and editing technical documents, policy manuals, procedural documents, operational guidelines, and reports.
  • 8 years of experience researching, developing, and disseminating information for organizing and presenting technical and policy information.
  • 8 years of experience consulting with technical staff for the development of documentation and procedural materials.
  • 6 years of experience preparing responses to correspondence, surveys, questionnaires, and information requests.
  • 6 years of experience creating and presenting documentation and reports to executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of Six Sigma and ITIL methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, formatting, and content quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of technical writing experience in the public sector.
  • 5 years of experience with IT policies and procedures.
