Qualifications
Education:
A minimum of 8 to 12 years of relevant experience is required.
A degree from an accredited college/university in the applicable field is required.
If the degree is not in the applicable field, four (4) additional years of related experience are required.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 5 years experience in LAN support.
Experience providing ServiceNow Tier 2 support to mitigate service tickets, outages, and end-user needs.
Proficiency in LAN protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol).
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Knowledge of LAN security standards and best practices.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to fast-paced, changing environments.
Commitment to continuous learning and staying current in LAN engineering trends.
Desired Skills:
Experience with IP Address Management Systems and voice VLAN sizing.
Experience performing switch acceptance for new field sites.
Ability to evaluate infrastructure tool limitations and recommend additional solutions.
Familiarity with wireless solutions: Cisco Meraki, HPE Aruba, Juniper Mist, Fortinet.
Summary
We are seeking Engineer, Systems III professionals to perform enterprise and local-level LAN/WAN monitoring, recommend performance and cost-efficiency enhancements, and provide Tier 2 support for network operations and incident resolution. This role requires independent and semi-independent work with minimal supervision, supporting wired switch and network operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide Tier 2 LAN support using ServiceNow to resolve tickets and mitigate outages.
Monitor network hardware to ensure proper configurations.
Perform cost/benefit studies of current network setups and recommend enhancements.
Advise users on hardware requirements and limitations.
Coordinate with hardware/software teams on installations.
Train operations staff on new equipment usage.
Oversee vendor-owned equipment repairs and maintain communication during issue resolution.
Keep users and management informed of system status.
Support strategic and tactical technology planning.
Responsibilities Include:
Implement and maintain LAN configurations, protocols, and inventory.
Troubleshoot and resolve LAN connectivity issues (switches, routers, cabling).
Document issue resolutions for knowledge sharing.
Support Tier 1 with LAN-related diagnostics.
Provide Tier 2 escalation support for LAN incidents and requests.
Collaborate with Tier 3 LAN Engineers for complex problems.
Execute additional duties as directed by management.
Independently perform all assigned functions with minimal oversight.
