Job Description:

We are searching for the best talent to join our MedTech Surgery team as a Lifecycle Engineering Manager, R&D, located in Cincinnati, OH.

Purpose: The Lifecycle Engineering Manager, R&D is responsible for the execution of projects of varying size & impact to ensure business continuity of Endomechanical and Energy portfolios within MedTech Surgery. These projects will encompass business protection, cost reduction, compliance & quality improvement projects. The successful candidate will ensure product supply continuity for our customers while addressing material shortages, supplier disruptions, product complaints, and changing market conditions. This leader will work together with cross-functional partners at the global and regional level to support the delivery of strategic objectives. This Manager may also support new product stabilization activities and/or lead line extension actions that improve the product's value to our customers.

You will be responsible for:
  • Lead a team of design and/or development engineers that focus on the management of life cycle engineering activities within Endomechanical and Energy product portfolios.
  • Ensure that the voice of the customer is present in all decisions.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues to minimize impact to product availability and cost.
  • Work with external vendors to develop solutions supporting business requirements.
  • Develop positive relationships with multi-functional leaders to drive alignment and ensure execution efficiency to meet business expectations.
  • Ensure projects are driven in compliance with regulatory requirements (GMP, ISO, MDR) and J&J MedTech policy & procedure requirements.
  • Capture & disseminate knowledge acquired during projects to improve MedTech Surgery development processes & systems.
  • Leadership and technical mentorship for a team of up to 10 engineers.

Education:
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or a related science/engineering degree is required.
  • An Advanced Degree is preferred.

Required Skills & Experiences:
  • Minimum (8) years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum (5) years product development or Life cycle engineering experience with a consistent track record of accomplishment: direct association with or leading efforts to develop or support technically sophisticated products.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry: Medical Device, Automotive, Aerospace, Aviation, etc.
  • Proven track record to deliver project outcomes in an ambiguous environment while balancing Customer Service, Cost & Quality.
  • Strong problem-solving and execution skills for developing creative solutions and meeting business objectives.
  • Detailed knowledge of new product development processes, design control, and change management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Experience leading and mentoring self-directed teams.
  • Project Management experience.

Preferred Skills & Experiences:
  • Experience in a FDA-regulated environment.
  • Medical device manufacturing experience.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., FPX or PMP).

Other:
  • This position may require up to 20% domestic and international travel
