Role - Technical Program Manager

Job description:

As Technical Program Manager you will lead the planning, execution and successful delivery of large-scale Data Warehouse and data engineering engagements. You ll combine deep technical knowledge (databases, ETL, reporting) with proven Agile delivery practices to drive end-to-end solutions, manage stakeholder expectations, and foster continuous improvement across teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Planning

  • Own scope, schedule and budget tracking for Agile Data Warehouse initiatives
  • Facilitate sprint planning, iteration reviews and retrospectives
  • Monitor team velocity and capacity; escalate risks and impediments

Delivery Excellence

  • Produce and present weekly/monthly/quarterly status reports to executive and client stakeholders
  • Ensure sprint deliverables meet business requirements and quality standards
  • Drive root-cause analysis on performance issues; implement optimization recommendations

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Independently manage day-to-day client interactions and expectations
  • Partner with business sponsors and technical leads to translate requirements into actionable user stories
  • Maintain transparent, proactive communication across all levels business, technical, and operations

Team Mobilization & Innovation

  • Recruit, onboard and coach cross-functional teams (developers, QA, data engineers)
  • Champion experimentation with emerging tools and practices (e.g., cloud-native ETL, automated testing)
  • Identify and drive value-add innovation to accelerate delivery and reduce cost

Governance & Compliance

  • Enforce Agile best practices, governance frameworks and quality gates
  • Coordinate change-management and release-management activities

Technical & Architectural Leadership

  • Define & Communicate Vision: Articulate a clear, long-term architecture roadmap for analytics and data-warehouse solutions.
  • Industry Best Practices: Stay abreast of emerging patterns, frameworks, and platforms; embed proven practices into our delivery approach.
  • Thought-Leadership & Representation: Represent the team at industry conferences and forums share learnings, gather insights, and build our brand.
  • Clear, Executive-Level Communication: Translate complex technical concepts into concise messages for both technical peers and non-technical executives.
  • End-to-End Analytics Integration: Drive a cohesive strategy that brings together data engineering, ETL, reporting, and advanced analytics into a unified solution.
  • Leadership & Influence: Champion continuous improvement mentor engineers, challenge the status quo, and elevate the organization s technical maturity.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 15+ years in IT delivery roles, including 5+ years managing Data Warehouse/data engineering projects
  • Proven track record in large services organizations (consulting, system integrators or managed services)

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience designing or overseeing ETL pipelines (Snowflake, Python, Informatica, etc.)
  • Familiarity with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
  • Strong grasp of performance-tuning, query optimization and data modeling concepts

Delivery & Process:

  • Certified or highly experienced in Agile project management (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)
  • Skilled at sprint-based planning, backlog refinement, and metrics-driven reporting

Leadership & Communication:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication; comfortable presenting to C-level executives
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust, resolve conflict, and influence without authority

Preferred (Plus)

  • Prior experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Exposure to DevOps/CI-CD pipelines for data workloads
  • Advanced certification (CSM, CSPO, SAFe Program Consultant, PMP)
