Overview
Our Client requires highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical QAQC Engineer to support the commissioning of mechanical systems for confidential Mission Critical data center projects. This role ensures that all mechanical systems are installed, tested, and functioning according to design specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. The ideal individual will have a strong background in Louvers, HVAC, Chillers, TAB, Plumbing, CRAC units, Exhaust Systems, and fire protection Systems, with experience in high-reliability and clean environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review mechanical system designs, submittals, and installation plans for compliance with project specifications.
  • Witness and verify mechanical system testing such as but not limited to: Louver penetrations, HVAC, Chillers, TAB, CRAC units, Exhaust Systems, and Fire Suppression.
  • Conduct inspections and document deficiencies, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and OFCI and CFCI commissioning agents to coordinate testing schedules and resolve issues.
  • Maintain detailed commissioning logs, test reports, and punch lists.
  • Ensure systems meet operational readiness and performance standards before turnover.
  • Support integrated systems testing and final acceptance procedures per the owner requirement through turnover
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with local codes and standards.

Commissioning Support
  • Collaborate with commissioning agents, contractors, and engineers to execute commissioning scripts and procedures.
  • Document and report deficiencies, track corrective actions within the owner's requirements to ensure resolution prior to turnover.

Quality Control & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain quality control protocols throughout the commissioning lifecycle.
  • Ensure all mechanical work complies with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Maintain detailed inspection logs, punch lists, and quality documentation.
  • Issue resolution compliance and knowledge within Mission Critical platform to document and resolve.

Safety & Risk Management
  • High level of LOTO familiarity and activities.
  • Enforce safety standards and procedures during all inspection and testing activities in accordance with site specific requirements.
  • Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Minimal requirement to work on a Mission Critical Project
  • Mission Critical environments demand precision, depth, and experience with systems that support 24/7 uptime.
  • Requires past exposure to MV systems, redundancy protocols, and hyperscale commissioning, with ability to validate data center infrastructure safely and effectively.
  • Typical Mechanical Mission Critical Competencies require SME with Louver penetrations, HVAC, Chillers, TAB, CRAC units, exhaust systems, as well as fire suppression and VESDA systems.
  • General strong awareness of high-voltage and medium-voltage systems with an understanding of MV switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, PDUs, and emergency power systems
  • Redundancy and reliability Commissioning protocols such as experience with integrated systems testing load bank testing, and sequence of operations validation. Code compliance such as general knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and AHJ coordination.
Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in the electrical or mechanical discipline, with a strong understanding of construction technologies, equipment, materials, and methods specific to this field.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Operating in high-pressure, zero-failure environments. Proven ability to perform under stringent uptime requirements where system reliability is paramount.
  • Coordinating complex multi-trade activities. Skilled in managing interdisciplinary workflows with active owner involvement, ensuring seamless integration across electrical, mechanical, and commissioning teams.
  • Understand LOTO, Louvers, HVAC, TAB, Chillers, Plumbing, CRACs and Fire Protection Systems procedures with live system inspections. Experienced in working with energized systems and phased commissioning tasks, maintaining strict safety and procedural compliance.
  • Utilizing commissioning tracking systems. Demonstrated proficiency or adaptability in using CX platforms to manage issue resolution, verification processes, and closeout documentation. #LI-TW1
