Title: Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant

Duration: 6 months

Location: 189 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

3 days onsite, 2 days Remote.

The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will manage and optimize the AOC s Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The resource will be responsible for ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices.

Certifications:

  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).

Required:

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.

Scope Of Work:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
  • Implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.
  • Configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ecosystem tools.
  • Collaborating with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.
  • Maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Supporting application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deployments.
  • Maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Participating in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.
  • Setup Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.
  • Configuring Chron jobs for both systems and applications.

Preferred Skills:

(1) Working in a complex networked system environment with strong networking.

(2) Administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.

(3) Administering systems including, but not limited to, the applications below:

  • Oracle WebLogic Servers
