Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Azure Data Engineer specializing in database design, development, and maintenance of our client's business applications to support the Application Innovation Services (AIS) in meeting customer and business needs. This role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, migrating, and tuning SQL Server database and reporting environments.

Duties:

  • Design, Develop, maintain, migrate, and tune SQL Server databases

  • Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures (T-SQL)

  • Debug database issues and perform performance tuning and monitoring

  • Design and implement data extracts using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

  • Work with Azure Data Factory for cloud-based data integration

  • Develop data pipelines between various systems

  • Create reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

  • Develop Microsoft Power BI dashboards and visualizations

  • Implement business intelligence solutions using Visual Studio and other BI tools

  • Apply data warehouse concepts and architecture principles

  • Optimize data warehouse performance and structure

  • Produce requirements documents and systems architecture diagrams, create data model diagrams and interface specifications

  • Develop configuration management documents and procedural manuals

Mandatory Skills/ Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related or Engineering field

  • 5+ years' experience applying analytical processes on IT projects (recently, at least within the last 7 years).

  • 5+ years' experience designing and implementing data extracts using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory.

  • 5+ years' experience writing SQL Queries, stored procedures (T-SQL), debugging, optimization, and database performance tuning and monitoring.

  • Experience developing reports for Microsoft SQL Server, Reporting Server (SSRS), and Microsoft Power BI.

  • Experience with all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for database development, report writing, and report administration.

  • Experience with business intelligence tools like Visual Studio, Business Intelligence Module, or Microsoft Power BI.

  • Experience with data warehouse concepts and architecture

  • Experience in producing requirements documents, systems architecture and interfaces, data model diagrams, configuration management documents, and procedural manuals.

Desirable Skills/ Experience:

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Azure Data warehouse solutions (Azure Synapse/Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory, Azure DataBricks, Azure Data Lake).

  • Experience using Team Foundation Server (TFS) or Azure DevOps.

  • Experience in supporting enterprise solutions within a health care and/or correctional environment.

  • Experience providing guidance to people with various skill levels.
