Job Summary
Responsible for specifying, managing, deploying and continuously improving Systems related to Comcast's Regional Area Networks in a 24/7 environment. Focuses on architecting, building, deploying and stabilizing code, services, systems and tools. Drives standardization and service focused instrumentation. Provides subject matter expertise. Resolves system issues escalated by XOC desk, engaging and managing broader teams as necessary and partners with/leads vendors to achieve continuous improvement. Contributes to command and control related activities focused on restoration of complex outages, communication across Comcast and rapid restoration. Works and manages the relationship with external vendors, third parties and associated agencies when necessary to address issues across the infrastructure. Available to assist as needed after hours and weekends in the event of catastrophic outage. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in multiple systems related to Comcast's Regional Area Networks. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities
  • Develops solutions for very complex and wide reaching network engineering problems. Sets new policies and procedures to handle future issues. Creates systems engineering documentation to be used by others to troubleshoot and maintain systems.
  • Follows engineering design life cycle with proper documentation ensuring that all detailed designs adhere to network standards.
  • Performs a variety of complex analytical duties in the planning, deployment, testing and evaluation of Comcast's network, products and services including CRAN, CMTS and the IP, Voice, Data, Commercial, Systems and Video platforms.
  • Configures routing to efficiently distribute customer traffic across edge and core network components.
  • Analyzes traffic engineering data to forecast network capacity requirements.
  • Understands the financial impact of decisions being made; allocates resources/budgets accordingly.
  • Collaborates and leads projects that involve supporting all Comcast products and services across the Regional Networks.
  • Produces accurate documentation in regards to detailed network designs and associated processes.
  • Provides technical training to technicians and other operations/engineering groups on current and future technology.
  • Builds and maintains ongoing relationships with the regions and local markets.
  • Takes control of a situation, quickly understands the issue and provides a solution without endangering the other services on the network.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
