Data Transformation Specialist - Oracle EBS/Workday (ETL / Data Migration SME)

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid occasional onsite meetings required, must be local)

Background Requirement: Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check upon hire.


A Texas-based organization is seeking an experienced Application Developer (ETL / Data Migration SME) to lead data migration efforts during a major ERP transition. The successful candidate will bring expertise in Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and Workday, with deep knowledge of ETL strategies, automation patterns, and data transformation best practices. This is a hybrid role requiring occasional onsite presence for key meetings in Austin, TX.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for ETL and data transformation throughout the ERP implementation.
  • Define, design, and lead migration approaches, not just execution but with a focus on automation, repeatable templates, and efficient migration patterns.
  • Collaborate with ERP implementation partners to align extracted data with predefined structures and criteria.
  • Recommend and validate ETL tools, methodologies, and governance best practices.
  • Manage financials and grants-related data migrations (modules such as costing, cash management, etc.).
  • Develop archival strategies and data lake solutions for migrated and historical data.
  • Perform technical analysis of data, including scope definition, security compliance, and validation.
  • Provide advanced development services: data gathering, management, preparation, transformation, and loading.
  • Partner with DBAs and other technical staff to build application/database components supporting ERP integration.
  • Ensure system updates, testing cycles, and IT best practices are consistently followed.
  • Document workflows, controls, and change management processes to ensure data integrity.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of professional experience as an Oracle developer or application developer with a strong focus on ETL / data migration projects.
  • Proven expertise with Oracle E-Business Suite (12.2.10 preferred Oracle EBS Must Have) and Workday ERP (Workday highly preferred but not must have) systems.
  • Strong PL/SQL and SQL Server programming skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute large-scale data migration strategies (lift-and-shift, transformation, archival, data lake creation).
  • Strong understanding of ERP financials, procurement, HR, and grants management processes.
  • Familiarity with ERP standards, best practices, and data governance.
  • Experience defining/documenting workflow and applying process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with ability to work across IT and business teams.
  • Must be able to provide and use own equipment (Laptop, Monitors)

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Experience with automation tools for ETL, reporting, and migration templates.
  • Knowledge of compliance/governance frameworks (e.g., GRCP, PMI-RMP, CIPT, etc.).
  • Prior ERP implementation experience in the public sector or higher education (preferred but not required).
