The Role: Senior AIX & Linux Systems Administrator

Location: Westlake, Ohio Hybrid, must be onsite in the office 2 days per week

Type: Full time

What You ll Do:

We re looking for an experienced AIX and Linux Systems Administrator to ensure our most essential business systems remain reliable, secure, and high-performing. In this senior position, you will oversee a blended AIX (IBM Power Systems/PowerVM) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment, taking the lead on design, automation, and day-to-day operations for the platforms that power our organization. You ll work closely with teams across networking, storage, databases, and applications to deliver stable infrastructure, advance modernization efforts (including PowerHA System Mirror, automated Ansible provisioning, and standardized patching/backup), and promote best practices throughout the environment.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of nine years of progressively responsible experience administering AIX on IBM Power with PowerVM/VIOS and administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux in enterprise environments.
• Experience with HMC, NIM, PowerHA SystemMirror (HACMP), and Live Partition Mobility.
• Strong scripting skills (Korn/Bourne shell, Perl, or Python) for automation and process improvement.
• Experience supporting virtualized environments (VMware ESXi, KVM) and enterprise job schedulers (HCL Workload Automation, Broadcom Autosys).
• Knowledge of backup/restore procedures using IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) and proven ability to execute DR tests.
• Solid foundational knowledge in server hardware, SAN/storage virtualization (NPIV, vSCSI), and networking fundamentals.
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation and perform after-hours maintenance as needed.
• Leadership experience mentoring junior team members or leading infrastructure projects.
• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related IT field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AIX 6.x or legacy AIX 5.3 migrations in production environments.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) for hybrid infrastructure integration.
• Experience with Ansible automation at scale, including CI/CD integration of infrastructure code.
• Performance tuning expertise using nmon, topas, vmstat, sar, perf tools.
• Experience with ITIL-aligned change/incident/problem management processes.
• Familiarity with security compliance frameworks and vulnerability management (e.g., CIS hardening, patch orchestration).
