Job Description:

The Systems Engineer Specialist will be responsible for providing systems level engineering guidance and leadership to contributing disciplines within an RF/COMMS systems engineering group.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform systems level requirements, design, test, and integration of RF and Communications systems on various air and ground platforms.
  • Interfaces with the customer to determine system specific requirements.
  • Design and test wideband systems in Ku, Ka, L-S-C and X bands.
  • Design and test communications systems for HF, V/UHF LOS, and UHF Satcom systems.
  • Design encryption systems for IP, Voice and data systems.
  • Work with tactical systems such as IBS, Link 16 and Link 11.
  • Perform link budget analysis, cost analysis, and cascade analysis.
  • Experience with COMSEC and cryptological devices.
  • Able to read and understand engineering wiring diagrams and related drawings, create and maintain spreadsheets, charts, reports, investigation and test plans and procedures.
  • Proficient with RF test equipment including network analyzer and spectrum analyzer.
  • Supports/perform RF systems and antenna installation/test both on and offsite.
  • Able to physically climb antenna towers for installation, test, and repairs of communication systems.
  • RF proto-typing and assembly skills for quick reaction capabilities.
  • Knowledge of EMI mitigations techniques.
  • Experience with tools such as DOORS, JIRA, Mentor Graphics, MBSE.
  • Uses Part Smart, Teamcenter and associated tools.
  • Researching/selecting cables, connectors and RF components.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Bachleors Degree with four (4) years of RF and/or COMMS experience.
  • Graduate degree with two (2) years of RF and/or COMMS experience.
  • In Lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of RF and/or COMMS experience.
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance at the time of hire, with the ability to obtain Top Secret (TS/SCI) Security Clearance.
  • Must successfully obtain a class III flight certification.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience with RC-135 Big Safari aircraft.
  • Active Top Secret with SCI.
