The Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall maintenance and physical integrity of L'Ermitage Beverly Hills. This key leadership position oversees all building systems, equipment operations, life safety compliance, and capital projects. The Director of Engineering ensures a safe, efficient, and luxurious environment for guests and colleagues by leading a high-performing engineering team and maintaining the property in peak operating condition.

The base salary range for this position is $110,000-$140,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, certification, and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead, train, and develop a skilled engineering team responsible for the hotel's daily maintenance and long-term asset preservation.
- Create and manage departmental staffing schedules, performance reviews, and professional development plans.
- Serve as a key member of the hotel's leadership team, contributing to operational planning and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Provide strategic input into capital planning, infrastructure upgrades, and energy conservation initiatives.
Facilities & Systems Oversight:
- Manage the operation, maintenance, and repair of all physical building systems, including:
- HVAC and refrigeration
- Electrical and lighting
- Plumbing and water systems
- Elevators and escalators
- Fire/life safety and emergency power systems
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and reduce emergency repairs.
- Ensure all guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and equipment rooms meet brand and operational standards.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, ADA, NFPA, and all applicable local/state/federal regulations.
- Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory inspections, code compliance, permits, and safety audits.
- Lead the hotel's life safety program, including fire system testing, evacuation drills, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain all required documentation for inspections, permits, logs, and certifications.
Project Management & Budgeting:
- Develop and manage the Engineering department's annual operating budget.
- Coordinate capital expenditures, project bids, renovations, and large-scale repairs in partnership with ownership and the EOS corporate team.
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and ensure adherence to service level agreements.
- Track utility usage, implement energy conservation initiatives, and support sustainability goals.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of engineering/facilities experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity, preferably in a luxury hospitality or high-end residential environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Proven success in managing compliance, budgets, capital planning, and vendor relations.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred. Certifications such as C.E.M., LEED, or CHFE a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available for emergencies, on-call needs, and occasional after-hours support.
- Ability to walk property, climb ladders, and access mechanical spaces as needed.
