HOW A Telephone Technician II - (Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN)) WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Performs installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems.
Under direct supervision, determines appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications including call switches, test trunks and test links, and installs communication circuits.
Responds to emergency calls in the event of a system failure
Under direct supervision, determines appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications including call switches, test trunks and test links, and installs communication circuits.
Exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment.
Provides reports, completes requests for new service, and determines methodology for installing telephone service or other telecommunication technology.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Associates of Arts/Associates of Science
Required Experience: 3+ years of related experience
Required Technical Skills: Experience working with switches of interface Inter-Switch Trunks (ISTs) from DoD & commercial microwave/satellite systems, plus other equipment needed to extend voice transmissions across fiber or copper mediums.
Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI
Required Skills and Abilities: Makes major precision adjustments on switches, relays, and other electrical control devices for maximum operating efficiency.
Preferred Skills: Verifies services by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; and identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.

CERTIFICATIONS:
Must meet the certification requirement of DoD 8570.01-M, SPIN-C, or individual task order.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Intermediate "hands on" work experience in support of installations, repair, and troubleshooting or maintenance of telecommunications systems or equipment. Must have the technical knowledge to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits, and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Intermediate experience in maintenance/troubleshooting telecommunications equipment as specified in the specified task order to include the following:
Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Equipment
Raytheon secure digital switches
Must have experience working with switches of interface Inter-Switch Trunks (ISTs) from DoD and commercial microwave/satellite systems and other equipment needed to extend voice transmissions across fiber or copper mediums.
Must have TS/SCI Clearance

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $38.55 - $52.15. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
