Job Summary
The CMDB Administrator, classified under the IT Architect job family/class, is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of Georgia Tech's Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within ServiceNow. This role ensures the CMDB accurately represents the Institute's IT infrastructure and provides a reliable foundation for data-driven decisions that enhance IT service delivery and operational efficiency.
The CMDB Administrator partners with IT operations, architecture, and service management teams to maintain the integrity, automation, and usability of CMDB data across ITSM and ITOM processes. This position blends technical expertise with strategic oversight, combining the ability to configure and improve ServiceNow's CMDB capabilities with the vision to align configuration data practices with institutional goals and standards.
Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement Information Technology system architectures, frameworks, and solutions to meet business requirements.

Define system design principles, standards, and best practices to guide system development and deployment.

Evaluate system technologies, tools, and platforms to recommend optimal system designs and implementations.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced certification may be preferred or required (some profiles may require additional education).
Other Required Qualifications
Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements.
Required Experience
Six or more years of relevant experience.

Deep CMDB expertise (proven experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining a large-scale ServiceNow CMDB (100k+ CIs, multiple data sources, ongoing reconcilliation))
Advanced discovery knowledge (hands on experience with ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping)
Reconciliation & normalization mastery (strong experience configuring identification and reconciliation (IRE) rules and data normalization rules to insure data integrity.
Integration architecture (Ability to architect and implement integrations between CMDB and external systems, such as SCCM, cloud providers, vendor feeds)
Proposed Salary
Salary based on experience: 122,500

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering solutions to complex problems. Experience in data analysis and process design. Experience in a higher education environment is a plus
Strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform, especially the CMDB module
Familiarity with ITIL framework and ITSM processes
