Position: Customs & Trade Compliance Analyst
Location: Toronto, ON
Duration: Contract
Job ID: 169144

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Customs and Trade Compliance Analyst (Contractor) to support the execution of international compliance initiatives within the Client International Shipping (eIS) program. This temporary role plays a key part in ensuring cross-border transactions remain compliant, cost-effective, and scalable by supporting analysis and oversight across customs, tax, and regulatory domains. The ideal candidate will bring strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and with external vendors. This is a project-based role with a specific focus on supporting import duty/tax variance tracking, HTS classification oversight, and compliance with global trade requirements, including destination market regulations such as EPR in Europe.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze import duty and tax variance reports (predicted vs. actuals).
  • Coordinate with internal data teams and external vendors to identify trends and recommend resolution paths.
  • Evaluate classification accuracy provided by third-party vendors and support internal teams with validation, monitoring, and model improvement.
  • Support compliance efforts related to destination market regulations such as EPR laws in Europe.
  • Help maintain documentation and workflows aligned with global requirements.
  • Assist in the review and tracking of product eligibility for import/export, including restricted items, licensing obligations, and market-specific restrictions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., product, legal, logistics, analytics) and external vendors to monitor compliance SLAs and surface any operational gaps.
  • Use tools like SQL, Excel, and BI dashboards to analyze customs-related data and propose improvements to existing processes and tools.
  • Support internal audits, vendor control testing, and compliance health checks as part of ongoing risk monitoring efforts.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in SQL and experienced working with large datasets.
  • Familiarity and comfort working with AI-powered tools to drive analysis, insight generation, and decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills-able to present data-driven insights clearly to a broad audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
  • Familiarity with global trade, logistics, or marketplace operations is helpful but not required.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and agility in fast-moving, project-based work.
  • Experience working with or managing external vendors via SLAs or KPI tracking.
