Job Details

Position Description:

Requires analysis, development, modification, installation, testing and maintenance of operating systems software. Evaluation of vendor supplied software packages and make recommendations to IT management. Modifying and/or debugging vendor-supplied utilities and packages. Modify, install, and prepare technical documentation for system software applications. Diagnose, isolate and de-bug software problems and performing problem resolution. Monitor systems capacity and performance, planning and executing disaster recovery procedures and providing Tier II technical support. Possesses a strong understanding of systems programming, graphical user interfaces and control languages. Ability to work independently or as a part of a team under general supervision and be able to mentor and coach junior technical staff in Legacy applications and software products for the Student Services Applications.

Position is part-time, working a maximum of 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting maintaining and modifying different student formats to the DOE, as legislation mandates (FTE funding, Teacher allocations for World Languages Programs)
  • Reporting and maintaining data to be reported to the DOE pertaining to Class Size, FTE funding, and Teacher allocations for World Languages Programs.
  • Reporting, maintaining and modifying data for ESE and ESOL allocations for the District.
  • Reporting, maintaining, and modifying data for Virtual Schools calculations and DOE reporting.

Qualifications:

Associate degree or higher in computer science, Information Systems, or another related field. Have more than 10 years experience working on mainframe legacy systems.

Applicant is required to have knowledge of FLDOE K-12 FTE processes and data.

Programming languages required are COBOL, EZTrieve, CICS, BMC Control products, CLIST and Natural, OS-JCT, TSO and IBM Utility software.

Experience in working with the Department of Education in modifying existing systems for legislative mandates related to FTE, ELL, ESE and all other state reporting formats.
