Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities - such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling - to create ground-up breakthrough electric vehicles. By joining the best software, engineering, design and UX talent, you will be a part of creating new technologies and concepts that can be applied across the Ford enterprise. What you'll be able to do:
- Define and document test requirements for cell characterization, abuse and other mechanical tests
- Own cell-level test plans to characterize cell properties needed for setting cell specifications and control algorithms.
- Analyze test results to assess quality of data collected to optimize performance and reliability
- Work with data engineers to create smooth data pipeline for requirement owners on a global scale
- Coordinate the development of code to execute on test hardware and test samples with a partner test engineer or technician
The minimum requirements we seek:
- Understanding of lithium-ion cell chemistry and electrochemistry fundamentals
- Knowledge of electrical test equipment used in battery cell testing
- Ability to learn new concepts and methods, propose design of experiments, and execute independently.
- Some experience with battery test equipment scripting (AVL Lynx)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with test planning and management using tools like JAMA and JIRA
- An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
- A system approach to design and testing with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement
