Come join us as we build the power system of the future with clean and sustainable energy. Tesla is looking for Power Systems Engineer to build on our in-house modeling and prototype testing capability for our energy storage at mass scales. You will help translate knowledge of power systems into product design and performance requirements. You will be responsible for developing detailed models of our technology and controls strategies. The role is diverse, fast-paced, and spans multiple levels of electrical, controls, firmware, and grid-operations.

Responsibilities
- Will maintain the power system models and keep them aligned with the product roadmap planning
- Will act as the technical representative for power flow, short circuit, and dynamic modeling discussions with customers. You must show the ability to articulate power systems analyses/results and the interaction of Tesla's technology with the grid
- You will perform power system model validation and regression testing across different simulation platforms
- Resolve any platform specific modeling issues for all the various power system models
- Work with firmware/software teams in developing, prototype testing new control designs
- Work with the product design team to feed power systems requirement into the product specification to influence system architecture
- You will articulate power systems analyses/results and the interaction of Tesla's technology with the grid to internal teams
- Work with customers and business development team to create models and perform testing for new potential applications
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems and control focus or equivalent experience
- Experience with modelling and simulations of inverter-based generation
- Strong working knowledge of control theory, digital control, stability, eigenvalue analysis, transfer functions and control block diagrams
- Knowledge of power system modelling tools: PSCAD, PSS\E, DIgSILENT Power factory
- Experience with C, Python and MATLAB scripts
- Direct experience of developing user-defined model in PSSE/Power factory/PSCAD is a plus
- Hands on experience of hardware description language (HDL) is a plus
- Experience with HIL tools (RTDS, Typhoon, OPAL-RT) is a plus
- Experience with performance of interconnection and engineering studies like stability, protection coordination, harmonics, insulation coordination, arch flash, and ground grid analyses is a plus

$100,160 - $404,520/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
