Job Description

AECOM is currently delivering designs for some of the largest highway projects in Pennsylvania and across the US. We have an opportunity in our Transportation Bridge Group in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, to engage an Experienced Bridge Engineer in one or more of our long-term, large-scale design projects. Our group has extensive experience and a proven reputation for the development of high-quality, innovative bridge design solutions ranging from conventional highway bridge design to the design of complex, long-span, and pedestrian bridges. You will be joining a team of highly experienced professionals whose goal is delivering excellence to our clients.

In this role you will be leading the design and detailing of structural elements for a large-scale project while overseeing the production of one or more individuals' work as the project moves from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final design and project delivery and into construction consultation.

Specifics of the role include:

  • Perform engineering analyses and design and propose approaches to solve challenges encountered.

  • Provide mentorship/guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budgets and schedule with little supervision.

  • Evaluate and apply applicable bridge design code requirements (e.g. AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design, PennDOT DM4, ACI, AISC).

  • Travel to project site and meetings as needed.

  • Use computer software as a tool for solving structural engineering problems including building 3D analytical structural finite element models.

  • Use appropriate engineering judgement to confirm analytical results, identify discrepancies and develop solutions.

  • Preparation of technical reports, design calculations, contract drawings and technical specifications with a focus on quality.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. As a team-player, professionalism in working with colleagues of all levels and disciplines is required. This position is an opportunity to work within a well-established and very successful group that offers a diverse range of projects, technical challenges and career development opportunities.
