An established company in the flavor and fragrance industry is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead its Essential Oils Division. This role focuses on the development and production of customized citrus and spice blends used in a wide range of flavor and fragrance applications. The Laboratory Manager will oversee both customer-facing projects and internal initiatives, ensuring high-quality standards and timely delivery. Responsibilities include managing daily workflow, monitoring project progress, mentoring technical staff, and contributing to strategic departmental goals. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of 3-5 technical R&D staff, directing daily operations and ensuring timely execution of customer projects and internal development efforts.
- Engage directly in lab activities, including quality control and R&D, particularly in the formulation of customized essential oil blends and specialty citrspice products.
- Provide consistent mentorship, feedback, and training to team members to ensure alignment with performance and quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Quality Assurance, and Sales teams to troubleshoot issues, streamline processes, and meet both short-term objectives and long-term goals.
- Ensure all laboratory practices comply with SOPs, safety protocols, environmental standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support departmental success by taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field
- At least 5 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing setting, including 2+ years in a leadership or management capacity
- Solid knowledge of essential oils, flavor and fragrance chemistry, or related formulations
- Proven leadership abilities with excellent communication and organizational skills
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Familiarity with lab safety procedures and regulatory compliance standards

- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal,state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
