Electrical Reliability Specialist

Taylor, Texas

Pay: $85K-$100K




Role Overview:

We're seeking an Electrical Reliability Specialist to support safe, consistent plant operations while minimizing total life-cycle costs. This role plays a key part in maintaining and enhancing the dependability of electrical systems across several facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion the design and execution of maintenance strategies-both preventative and predictive-for electrical infrastructure and machinery.


  • Serve as a technical resource for maintaining electrical distribution systems such as:


    • Substations, breakers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), protective relays, UPS systems, battery backups, and transformers rated up to 138kV.


    • Large-scale motors (up to 45,000 hp and 15,000V), including both induction and synchronous types.


    • Emergency generators up to 1500kW capacity.




  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance routines per established protocols.


  • Conduct predictive diagnostics like infrared thermography, transformer oil analysis, partial discharge testing, and power quality evaluations.


  • Support failure investigations and root cause analysis for significant breakdowns.


  • Help pinpoint and resolve recurring reliability issues with electrical assets.


  • Participate in planning and budgeting for electrical scopes during turnarounds.


  • Monitor equipment data to improve performance and efficiency.


  • Provide hands-on and/or remote guidance to site personnel and contractors to ensure safe and effective work execution.


  • Tackle high-priority technical issues with urgency and professionalism.


  • This role requires a mix of fieldwork and desk work, with approximately 50% domestic travel expected.



Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience maintaining medium voltage (5kV-15kV) systems in a heavy industrial setting.


  • Solid exposure to high-voltage equipment and systems is essential.


  • Strong background in installing, diagnosing, and repairing complex electrical setups.


  • Familiarity with proactive maintenance tools and techniques for electrical reliability.


  • Effective communicator and team collaborator.


  • Able to work independently or in team settings with minimal oversight.


  • Proficient in using computers and common business software (e.g., MS Office, email).


  • Willingness to be available for urgent issues outside of normal hours.


  • Proven understanding of control and instrumentation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment Preferred


  • Proven experience in CMMS systems such as Infor EAM Preferred


  • This position typically requires up to 50% out of town travel domestically.
