Purpose of the Position
Leads cross-functional teams to provide agile-based project deliverables and facilitates the team's work to accelerate delivery of business value by ensuring adherence to Scrum methodologies and processes. Facilitates internal and external communication, removes impediments, and serves as the intermediary between multiple product owners, managers, and team members. Uses strong communication skills to facilitate the project team through the Scrum process of Release Planning, Sprint Planning for multiple product owners, Daily Scrums, Sprint Demos and Retrospectives in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. Sets the example for Agile methods based upon the designated principles and ensures they are understood and exercised consistently within the team. Incumbent s work is generally independent and collaborative in nature while contributing to moderately complex aspects of a project.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate scrum meetings. Schedule and facilitate product backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily standups, sprint demos, and retrospectives.
- Promote teamwork and a culture of ownership. Build a trusting environment where healthy conflict can occur and be resolved cooperatively. Encourage the team to improve their work by reviewing the results and lessons learned. Find and act on opportunities for training.
- Assist with the identification and resolution of challenges. Intervene where needed to resolve conflicts and remove blockers. Consistently clarify process and action items.
- Document, collect, and report measures. Utilize our project-tracking tool to assist the team with work tasks. For each sprint, collect data that shows progress and improvements the team has made. Promote transparency by utilizing the Agile board and burndown charts.
- Collaborate with the Product Owner. Support and educate the Product Owner to help prepare and refine the product backlog and maximize the time and effort of the Delivery Team.
- Coordinate efforts across multiple departments. When a project requires resources from outside of the Scrum Team, the Scrum Master should align a resource for the team and ensure expectations are clearly defined.
- Lead the team to success by harnessing the collective power of teamwork. Be willing to step up when the team needs assistance in reaching their goals. Do whatever is necessary to shield the team and keep the team focused on their goals and delivering value.
- Leverages Jira and Confluence to elicit and define business and technical requirements, track requirements, prioritize features, curate content, sequence deliverables into sprints, and report progress.
- Adapt current methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems.
- Responsible for removing the impediments for the scrum team.
- Support the Product Owner in maintaining a well-organized and sprint-ready product backlog.
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited university with a major in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering, or in lieu of education, four (4) or more years of Scrum Master work experience, ideally in a banking or fintech software development organization.
- Plus:
- 4+ years of Scrum Master work, ideally in a banking or fintech software environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas of Scrum Master work:
- Agile Coaching
- Agile Management
- Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) Software
- Bug Tracking Software
- Applicants for this position must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Habemco (e.g., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (STEM/OPT), TN visa.)

Preferred:
- Certified Scrum Master certification.
