Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Design
Lead the technical architecture design for enterprise imaging solutions (Radiology PACS, Cardiology PACS, VNA, Ancillary Imaging Applications)
Work with the Integration team integration standards with EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Allscripts) using HL7, FHIR, DICOM, and IHE profiles.
Develop detailed logical and physical architecture diagrams for imaging platforms, VM farms, and hybrid on-prem/cloud deployments.
Ensure data integrity, normalization, and interoperability during system upgrades and migrations.
Solution Delivery
Guide technical teams in the discovery, design, build, test, and deployment phases for application upgrades and PACS migrations.
Oversee system integration testing, performance benchmarking, and security hardening of imaging applications.
Define cut-over strategies, rollback plans, and hypercare support ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations.
Governance & Compliance
Establish technical governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to HIPAA, HITECH, FDA, and other healthcare regulations.
Lead data security, identity management, and disaster recovery planning for imaging systems.
Maintain documentation of architectures, dataflows, and change management artifacts to meet program standards.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary technical liaison between hospital IT teams, application vendors, and internal project teams.
Conduct technical workshops with clinical SMEs, PACS admins, and IT staff for requirement gathering and validation.
Support training and knowledge transfer for IT teams and super-users.
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
Certifications in PACS Administration, Enterprise Imaging, or Healthcare IT standards a plus.
TOGAF or other enterprise architecture certifications a plus.
Experience:
10+ years of experience in Healthcare IT with 5+ years in technical architecture roles focusing on clinical imaging.
Proven track record in large-scale PACS/VNA upgrades and multi-PB data migrations.
Hands-on expertise with Merge PACS, Change Healthcare PACS, Merge Cardio, Change Cardio, GE Centricity, Philips Xcelera, and related imaging systems.
Strong experience with EHR integrations, particularly with Epic Radiant and Cupid modules, Cerner RadNet/Cardiology, and Meditech imaging integrations.
Demonstrated experience in DICOM data migration methodologies, HL7/FHIR interface engines (Mirth, Rhapsody, MuleSoft), and enterprise data normalization.
Experience leading multi-hospital imaging consolidation programs in large health systems.
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of medical imaging standards: DICOM, HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, IHE profiles (SWF, PIR, XDS-I).
Strong knowledge of virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V), storage systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
Proficiency in database technologies, SQL, and data validation tools for migration assurance.
Experience in security frameworks, RBAC, MFA, and encryption protocols for healthcare applications.
Familiarity with AI and advanced imaging analytics solutions is a plus.
