Position: IT Finance Controller
Location: Plymouth, MN
Contract duration: 6+ Months


Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee financial operations for a large-scale enterprise construction initiative. This role will be responsible for managing the department s budget across multiple cost centers, ensuring accurate tracking of purchase orders (POs), capital expenditure requests (CERs), accounts, and overall budget performance. The Controller will play a critical role in monthly variance reporting and annual budget planning, supporting strategic decision-making and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Budget Management & Oversight

    • Lead the development, monitoring, and control of departmental budgets across multiple cost centers.

    • Ensure alignment of financial plans with project goals and timelines.

  • Financial Operations

    • Manage all aspects of Purchase Orders (POs), Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs), and account tracking.

    • Maintain accurate and timely records of expenditures and commitments.

  • Reporting & Analysis

    • Prepare and present monthly spend variance reports with actionable insights.

    • Support quarterly and annual financial reviews with leadership and stakeholders.

  • Strategic Planning

    • Collaborate with project managers and department heads to support budget forecasting and planning.

    • Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to guide investment decisions.

  • Compliance & Controls

    • Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements.

    • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and audit readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).

  • 7+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in construction or enterprise project environments.

  • Strong understanding of cost center budgeting, PO/CER workflows, and financial reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams within large organizations.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.

  • Familiarity with enterprise reporting platforms and data visualization tools.
