Position Overview
The QA Automation Analyst (Senior) is designing, developing, and executing automated and manual test strategies to ensure high-quality, reliable, and secure software delivery. In this role, you are collaborating with product owners, developers, business analysts, and technical teams to validate requirements, identify defects, streamline testing processes, and ensure all application functionality aligns with business objectives. You will be responsible for building automated frameworks, preparing test cases, supporting UAT, and ensuring complete requirements traceability across the SDLC.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and maintaining automated and manual test cases, scripts, and test plans.
- Analyzing business and system requirements to determine testing scope, coverage, and acceptance criteria.
- Creating and executing UAT test cases and conducting walkthroughs with business stakeholders for alignment and clarity.
- Developing and maintaining requirements traceability matrices to ensure complete test coverage.
- Logging, tracking, prioritizing, and managing defects using Jira or similar tools.
- Utilizing Xray or similar test management tools to document, track, and execute test scenarios.
- Conducting API testing and automation using tools such as Postman, SOAPUI, or JMeter.
- Writing SQL queries (CRUD operations) to validate backend data and ensure system integrity.
- Designing and executing automated test scenarios that validate authentication, authorization, user roles, and security-related workflows.
- Performing various testing types including unit, integration, regression, smoke, system, performance, and user acceptance testing.
- Supporting developers in dev, test, and UAT environments to troubleshoot issues and reproduce defects.
- Ensuring compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) using assistive technology tools.
- Preparing testing documentation, execution reports, defect summaries, and quality dashboards.
- Collaborating with Scrum teams in an Agile environment to ensure timely, high-quality sprint deliverables.
- Managing time effectively across multiple testing tasks while meeting tight deadlines.
- Communicating test findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to technical and business leadership.
- Supporting State of Texas HHS or similar public-sector projects, as applicable.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience writing and executing manual and automated test cases and test plans.
- Strong understanding of software usability, requirements traceability, and the full SDLC.
- Hands-on experience with Xray and Jira for test and defect management.
- Strong SQL skills, including creating, reading, updating, and deleting data.
- Experience automating tests using UFT (Unified Functional Testing).
- Proven experience in API testing using Postman, SOAPUI, JMeter, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated experience working in Agile Scrum teams to deliver quality software in sprint cycles.
- Ability to log, track, categorize, and prioritize defects using industry-standard tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Experience tracking test execution progress and preparing detailed reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines and managing multiple testing tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with Object-Oriented Programming concepts.
- Experience conducting accessibility testing using WCAG 2.1 AA tools and methodologies.
- Prior experience working with State of Texas HHS systems or similar public-sector environments.
- Experience supporting large-scale government programs or integrated eligibility systems.
