Location: Alpharetta, GA (Hybrid)

Duration: 12+ Months

Employment: W2 Only (NO C2C / 1099)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, and maintain mission-critical applications in a high-performance, transaction-heavy environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, Datacom, and VSAM, along with experience in job scheduling tools like Control-M and a strong understanding of financial services systems. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions while supporting modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and Datacom.
  • Create and manage JCL scripts for batch processing and job automation using Control-M.
  • Utilize VSAM for efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in production and test environments.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and other developers to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Support and enhance transaction-heavy systems, including CICS-based online programs.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in mainframe modernization efforts and integration with cloud platforms.
  • Lead or contribute to Agile development practices and DevOps initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 11+ years of experience in mainframe technologies including Mainframe, COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, CICS, VSAM, and SORT utilities.
  • Experience with scheduling and development tools such as Control-M, ChangeMan, FileAid, Startool, TOAD, and SPUFI.
  • Familiarity with mainframe modernization techniques and cloud integration.
  • Knowledge of REXX, BlueZone, and Assembler (HLASM).
  • Agile and DevOps experience, including source control tools like Git.
  • Understanding of software design patterns, SOLID principles, and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Exposure to automated testing tools such as UFT, Postman, or Selenium.
  • Experience with messaging queues like IBM MQ or Kafka.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
