Role : DBA with LUW Admin Location - St Louis MO - Hybrid Experience: 12+ Duration: Long Term
Job Summary:
The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of IBM Db2 LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows) databases across multiple environments. The role includes performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, and supporting mission-critical enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain IBM Db2 LUW database environments across development, testing, and production systems.
Administer and manage Db2 databases including backup/recovery, performance tuning, and data replication.
Plan and implement database upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery configurations (HADR, TSA, and replication technologies).
Perform proactive monitoring and capacity planning for database systems to ensure optimal performance.
Develop and maintain database security policies including user roles, access control, and encryption.
Collaborate with application developers to design efficient database structures, queries, and stored procedures.
Implement automation for routine database tasks using shell scripting or equivalent tools.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
Maintain documentation for database configurations, standards, and operational procedures.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 support for production databases.
Work closely with infrastructure and cloud teams for integration with virtualized and hybrid cloud environments.
Support compliance, audit, and data governance initiatives within the enterprise.
Required Skills & Experience:
7+ years of experience in IBM Db2 LUW database administration in large enterprise environments.
Strong hands-on experience with Db2 installation, configuration, tuning, and performance optimization.
Expertise in HADR, TSA, DPF, and other high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
Proficient in backup/recovery strategies, restore testing, and Db2 utilities.
Solid understanding of database security, roles/privileges, and data encryption mechanisms.
Working knowledge of SQL, shell scripting (AIX/Linux), and automation tools.
Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., IBM Data Server Manager, OEM, or equivalent).
Familiarity with Cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and hybrid database integration is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration across teams.
