Role: Lead QA Engineer

Location: 4x/week onsite in Austin, TX (78735)

Salary: 150k + up to 15% BonBenefits

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Test Engineering Manager to lead and grow our test engineering function within the Data Engineering team. This role is critical to ensuring the quality and integrity of our data platforms, pipelines, and products. The ideal candidate is not only an experienced leader but also a hands-on engineer who can guide the team through complex testing challenges across our data and application ecosystems.

What You'll Do
  • Lead a team of test engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and career development.
  • Define and drive testing strategies across data engineering initiatives, including data pipelines, integrations, and data platform migrations.
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to ensure thorough test coverage and data quality.
  • Oversee the development and execution of test plans for systems including Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, SSIS packages, and APIs.
  • Develop automation frameworks and data validation tools using Python (Pandas, Polars, PySpark) and SQL (SQL Server).
  • Build and maintain automated test suites for UI regression testing using Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Implement and manage API testing frameworks.
  • Author comprehensive master test plans and participate in architecture and design reviews.
  • Promote best practices in testing, CI/CD, and quality assurance within the team.


What You Bring
  • Proven experience managing test engineering teams, preferably in data-centric environments.
  • Strong Python skills with a focus on automation and data validation (Pandas, Polars, or PySpark).
  • Advanced SQL skills, with experience in SQL Server.
  • Experience with Snowflake and testing data workflows within it.
  • Familiarity with Databricks or similar notebook-based environments like Jupyter or Google Colab.
  • Deep understanding of Azure services, especially Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience testing SSIS packages and other ETL solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with UI automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Experience in building API test suites and automation frameworks.
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for mentoring engineers of all experience levels.
  • Experience working within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to modern data architectures and cloud-native design patterns.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
