Job Details

Job Title: Mechanical Lab Technician
Location: Waukesha, WI

 

Position Overview:
Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Lab Technician to support CT engineering operations through testing, fabrication, calibration management, and safety leadership. You ll manage lab assets, build and assemble experimental fixtures and prototypes, and partner with mechanical engineers to improve design functionality and product quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage lab s calibrated assets: monitor calibration schedules, maintain logs, and coordinate with external vendors for timely calibration
  • Conduct investigations for Out-of-Tolerance (OOT) notifications, overdue calibrations, and asset lifecycle management (setup/retirement)
  • Support engineering modifications and installed base investigations (hardware installs, CT gantry adjustments, test setup creation)
  • Fabricate prototype parts and test fixtures using mechanical shop tools and CNC equipment
  • Set up and execute functional and reliability tests for prototype components; record and report results to engineering staff
  • Maintain lab organization, safety, and compliance; champion EHS initiatives and maintain tool inventory
  • Support engineers with mechanical design improvements and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback

 

Tools & Technologies:

  • Proficient with waterjet, CNC, manual mill, lathe, sheet metal brake, and mechanical hand tools
  • Experience interpreting part and assembly drawings, including GD&T
  • Use of calibration management systems and regulated environment documentation tools
  • Microsoft Office and mechanical data logging tools

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent technical discipline)
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Experience in lab tooling, calibration systems, and regulated engineering environments

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of related experience in mechanical or test labs within the medical device, aerospace, or industrial equipment sectors
  • OSHA, EHS, or safety program certification
  • Experience supporting prototype and reliability test environments
