Job Title: Senior Tableau Analyst/Developer
Location: Remote
Duration: 1 Year

Position Overview:
  • We are seeking a skilled Tableau Developer with a strong background in healthcare data to support data visualization and reporting efforts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Tableau, a solid understanding of HL7 standards, HIPAA compliance, and preferably prior exposure to state government or public sector projects if possible.
  • This role will be instrumental in building dashboards and reports that transform complex healthcare data into actionable insights for a range of stakeholders, including technical teams, clinicians, and government leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server.
  • Integrate and visualize data from diverse sources, including CSV files, SQL Server, EDWs, and healthcare-specific formats such as HL7.
  • Ensure all data handling and reporting activities comply with HIPAA regulations and safeguard PHI (Protected Health Information).
  • Collaborate with data analysts, business users, and data engineers to gather requirements and translate them into effective visualizations.
  • Optimize dashboards for performance, usability, and accessibility.
  • Support ad hoc analysis and reporting needs from state agency partners or healthcare organizations.
  • Maintain technical documentation for data sources, dashboard logic, and update schedules.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 6 years of experience in data visualization and reporting, with 4 years focused on Tableau development.
  • Proven ability to build and optimize complex Tableau dashboards and visualizations.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server 2019 ). Significant experience building complex SQL queries at the command line using SQL for the purposes of comparative data analysis.
  • Expert level knowledge in HL7 messaging standards and how they are represented and used in reporting.
  • Experience cleansing raw datasets
  • Extensive experience in designing and building 3rd Normal Form data structures in Sqlserver
  • Creating new and modifying reports in Tableau
  • Deep understanding of HIPAA regulations and secure handling of healthcare data/PHI.
  • Experience working with project teams in an Agile or Scrum environment
  • Experience working with or supporting state agencies or healthcare/health insurance organizations is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Highly collaborative work approach, ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying and resolving data or reporting issues.
  • Comfortable asking clarifying questions to fully understand project or reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to create dashboards or reports that enhance operational efficiency and business visibility.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is desired
