Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master & Agile Coach to support and train IT Team Leads in effectively running Scrum and Kanban practices. This role focuses on building internal capability, improving Agile maturity, optimizing workflow, and driving team accountability and collaboration. The ideal candidate is an expert facilitator and coach who can guide teams in both delivery and operations environments.
This hybrid role requires strong communication, mentorship, and analytical skills to help IT teams self-organize, manage backlogs, resolve impediments, and continuously improve.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitation & Training
- Train and support IT Team Leads in leading Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Assist in optimizing ceremonies, improving story writing, prioritization, and participation.
- Ensure team members understand expectations, priorities, and best practices.
- Document training, improvements, and best practices to maintain a working team agreement.
Coaching & Mentorship
- Coach alongside IT Team Leads to demonstrate how to apply Scrum and Kanban principles.
- Develop team capability in both self-organization and continuous improvement.
- Ensure alignment with leadership priorities and operational support requirements.
- Encourage teams to address issues collaboratively and manage incidents effectively.
Impediment Management
- Train Team Leads on identifying, analyzing, and removing blockers.
- Assist in dependency analysis and incorporate follow-up actions as part of team ceremonies.
Backlog Management
- Collaborate with technical leads and management to maintain a clear, prioritized, and well-groomed backlog.
- Reinforce practices that support continuous progress and value delivery.
Process Adherence & Improvement
- Reinforce Scrum (for development teams) and Kanban (for operations) best practices.
- Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and actionable follow-through.
- Implement workflows, WIP limits, and repeatable operational processes to improve throughput.
Team Collaboration
- Foster collaboration across Scrum and Kanban teams to support successful incremental deployments.
- Improve team effectiveness and ensure clarity on roles, expectations, and best practices through documentation and ongoing coaching.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with Agile teams (Scrum and Kanban environments).
- Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks, methodologies, and core principles.
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve impediments and team conflicts.
- Experience managing and prioritizing backlogs aligned with leadership priorities.
- Strong communication skills for cross-team and cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficient in:
- Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence)
- ServiceNow (ITSM and Agile Modules)
- MS Teams
- Office365
- Agile Certification Required: Scrum Master certification at minimum (CSM, PSM, or equivalent).
